Although they have put forth effort, the Rajasthan Royals have struggled to establish consistency this season.
After winning just three out of twelve matches played thus far, leaving them at the bottom of the points table, but there is still hope they could make playoffs by winning four consecutive matches against Chennai Super Kings by an overwhelming margin.

Early on, Royals bowlers did an admirable job restricting CSK batsmen. Yudhvir Singh Charak, Wanindu Hasaranga and Jofra Archer each picked up wickets for Rajasthan Royals.
CSK started off well thanks to an opening partnership from Shane Watson and Suresh Raina that gave CSK a respectable total; however, its middle order quickly succumbed under tight pressure from Rajasthan Royals batsmen.
Royals batsmen pressed hard in the powerplay and quickly reached 56/2 after seven overs, but CSK battled back and added 56 runs for third wicket in just three overs with Kwena Maphaka taking an excellent high catch to send back young Urvil Patel and initiate middle-order collapse.
As CSK began losing wickets regularly, Ayush Mhatre and Brevis Neshan quickly ran out of partners as MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja attempted to revive their innings but could only manage 36 runs between them in their last two wickets.
Shane Watson’s amazing 101 off just 61 balls remains the highest individual innings against CSK at Sawai Mansingh Stadium since 2008. These teams have faced each other 31 times since 2008 in the Indian Premier League; RR won 16 matches compared to CSK’s 14.
Now these sides will meet again on Sunday for another Super Over match – one whose result will determine who clinches one of four spots in the top four; CSK are currently sitting second with six wins while Royals sit bottom of table; in order to avoid defeat against GT by large margin and avoid wooden spoon. It will also mark their first time ever playing such a match during tournament final round!
CSK vs. RR
CSK were made to work hard for their total of 187/8 but enjoyed an excellent 59-run partnership between Shivam Dube and Dewald Brevis that put them in control of proceedings. Unfortunately, Tushar Deshpande and Akash Madhwal’s impressive slog over bowling prevented any additional runs being scored by CSK.
RR had struggled to score runs in earlier matches, but Dhruv Jurel showed signs of improvement when he hit two sixes and fours off 12 balls to finish on 31 off 12. This helped them amass 171/7 after 20 overs.
Graeme Smith provided some hope in the last over, hitting a huge hit to inject some life into Royals innings but could not add any more runs to their total. Although they were still chasing runs, this time round seemed much better.

CSK had been looking strong throughout their innings; losing this opportunity would be devastating to their chances.
Brevis has also come unstuck, being easily dismissed by Akash Madhwal for 42(254) – which is far from ideal when trying to break an IPL record run total.
