LSG vs MI
MI climbed three notches on the points table with an emphatic victory against LSG at Wankhede Stadium. Opener Ryan Rickelton set off their five-time champions’ impressive campaign by hitting several quick boundaries early on, while Suryakumar Yadav showed great form by hitting four fours and one six.
But an impressive comeback by the home side saw them back into the game. Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh kept up an aggressive run rate before Will Jacks made a decisive statement by picking off two wickets in three balls from Pooran and Rishabh Pant to give MI the edge in this encounter.
Corbin Bosch and Naman Dhir both made cameo appearances to help their side reach a healthy total, but Dhir was responsible for one crucial error by hitting an off-cutting scoop shot straight into Ravi Bishnoi’s hands at long-on.
Trent Boult sent Ayush Badoni back into the pavilion. David Miller also fell victim to Jasprit Bumrah who dismissed all three batsmen (Abdul Samad, Avesh Kumar and himself in one over).
Aiden Markram managed a few runs before being bowled by Bumrah off his own bowling, however Hardik Pandya’s brilliant fielding allowed him to collect an important wicket in SKY Tilak.
MI vs LSG
Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav’s quickfire fifties powered Mumbai Indians to an effortless 5-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants at Wankhede Stadium and propelled them up the points table to second position.
MI dominated the Powerplay with Rickelton smashing three consecutive sixes off Mayank Yadav in the last over of Powerplay to race to 58 from 32 balls; then spinner Will Jacks took control by dismissing Nicholas Pooran and Rishabh Pant to reduce Lucknow to 103/3; then debutant Corbin Bosch joined Naman Dhir in helping take them past 200-run mark!
LSG were quick to lose Mitchell Marsh early and struggled for runs until Ayush Badoni’s unbeaten 57 off 29 balls helped them get back on track.
Jacks’ offspin eventually tilted the game in MI’s favour as he removed Pooran (missed to long-off) and Pant (missed a straight drive) to leave them reeling at 122/4.
Ayush Badoni continued scoring freely – even hitting two sixes off Karn Sharma in his penultimate over; unfortunately Ravi Bishnoi was eventually sent packing as well.
Ayush Badoni was caught at short square leg by Ajay Devgn after scoring 35 off 22 balls, but it was too late as Jasprit Bumrah quickly ran through their batting order to remove David Miller, Abdul Samad, and Avesh Kumar within five balls – ending their hopes of pulling off an upset victory against MI and marking their best performance of the season and recording their first league stage win against LSG.
MI registered five consecutive wins this season while also recording their maiden league stage win against them this time round – something no other team had managed since before this tournament began!
