Heinrich Klaasen’s unbeaten 53 off 30 balls led SRH to an easy seven-wicket victory at home against DC on a challenging pitch, as DC’s batting lineup collapsed under pressure and fell to defeat in short order, as reflected in the Sunrisers Hyderabad Vs Delhi Capitals Match Scorecard.

Lokesh Rahul made an untimely exit, but Tristan Stubbs and Abhishek Porel put on an impressive late partnership to complete the chase for DC and seal an important win that helped reduce their points deficit on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

SRH vs DC

The second match of the day will be an essential contest between two teams vying to finish in the top four of their league.

Delhi Capitals (DC) started strong, winning five of their initial six matches before slowing down and now sitting on just 12 points; any further losses could mean elimination from contention.

A win for SRH would keep their playoff hopes alive, and the hosts are likely to field the same lineup they did against PBKS in their previous match.

Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head and Ishan Kishan will lead SRH’s efforts as they look to score an impressive total and put pressure on DC’s bowlers.

Rishabh Pant has made his mark as an explosive batsman in this competition and will look to use his superiority against slow bowlers as an advantage against Pat Cummins of Sunrisers Hyderabad who is known for his swing and pinpoint accuracy – the battle between these two explosive batsmen promises to be captivating!

Heinrich Klaasen must step up as captain of SRH’s middle order and ensure they don’t succumb to DC spin attack, led by Kuldeep Yadav.

Kuldeep Yadav has had success against Hyderabad openers in recent times, so he will aim to derail their momentum against Kuldeep Yadav and company.

SRH will need the experienced Mohammed Shami to find some form with the ball, likely supported by Jaydev Unadkat in this game.

DC captain Axar Patel must perform at his best with bat if DC are to make an impactful push for top four finish. A win here could give them renewed confidence but don’t underestimate an aggressive SRH side!

Match Summary

After an inexplicably rain-drenched match at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, both teams shared one point apiece and DC remain fifth while SRH continue their downward spiral.

Due to heavy rainfall, the match was reduced to 16 overs and Pat Cummins led SRH’s bowling attack as it took an early wicket with Karun Nair off his first ball before getting Faf du Plessis and Abishek Porel both within his next two overs, leaving DC struggling at 26/4 within their powerplay innings.

Delhi Capitals young guns worked tirelessly and managed to complete their run chase with some remarkable individual performances from Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer all contributing. Additionally, Kagiso Rabada showed his superior fielding ability with the ball.

This marks the 24th time SRH and DC have met in IPL history, with SRH holding an edge with 13 victories to DC’s 10. With playoff implications at stake for both sides, and plenty at stake this game promises to be another exciting showdown between these rivals.

Head-to-Head Record

Since IPL began in 2008, both teams have competed against one another 24 times with SRH winning 12 matches and DC 10 respectively.

Their last encounter took place in January 2025 where Pat Cummins struck through DC’s top order by dismissing Karun Nair, Faf du Plessis, and Abishek Porel to leave them reeling at 26/4 inside the powerplay.

Rain eventually forced both teams out, yet this game held significant playoff implications. DC’s loss put them back into playoff contention while SRH moved up the table level on points with fourth-placed KKR – becoming first team ever in IPL history to hold this top position and win four out of their eight matches thus far.

Prediction

As the tournament enters its business end, teams need to ensure they continue winning matches and don’t lose too many in order to qualify for playoffs. Delhi Capitals currently rank fifth and would benefit from winning against Sunrider Hyderabad on Monday as it would provide some breathing room and offer them an opportunity to push forward further.

SRH have struggled so far this season with only three wins out of ten games and are presently sitting ninth. As pressure builds to qualify for the top four positions, they must rely on experienced players such as Kane Williamson and Bairstow to return quickly from injuries and recover form quickly.

Both sides will hope for an exciting match on Hyderabad’s flat track that lends itself well to fast bowling – something SRH have long demonstrated on such surfaces with powerful batsmen like Warner, Bairstow and Pandey alongside solid middle order support and two top pace/spinner combinations in Bhuvi and Rashid.

DC will rely on Kagiso Rabada and Prithvi Shaw to set the platform for their batsmen to score runs, while Jared Guptill and Shivam Dube will look to exploit Hyderabad’s batting conditions. Abhishek Sharma and Heinrich Klaasen may contribute in the batting department while Pat Cummins will lead an attack featuring Harshal Patel, Mohammed Shami and Jaydev Unadkat as support bowlers.
