Match Timeline

Gujarat Titans will host Chennai Super Kings at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium for Match 67 of the Indian Premier League, looking to seize back some ground after dropping out of contention for top two positions.

Even without MS Dhoni as captain, Shubman Gill’s side have something to play for against MS Dhoni and could come out unscathed against their fierce rivals in what should be an exciting match-up that could determine their season fate.

CSK won the toss and elected to bat first. Ayush Mhatre and Devon Conway started off the innings well, posting an opening partnership of 44 runs before Devon Conway was caught behind for 37 off 21 balls by Sai Kishore. A Dewald Brevis blitz helped CSK score an impressive total of 230/5 in their 20 overs.

Gill has restored confidence to the Titans under his capable leadership, bolstered by an experienced batting lineup led by Jos Buttler and Sherfane Rutherford.

Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia provide ample lower order strength while Rabada, Siraj, Krishna, and Kagiso Rabada’s bowling unit has kept opponents at bay.

Match Prediction

Though they lost to Lucknow Super Giants, Gujarat Titans remain in contention for a top-two finish and could seal it with victory against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.

Gujarat have been one of the most consistent sides this season and rarely faltered; entering this match after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore while CSK are looking to end their season on a high note.

This will be the inaugural meeting between these two teams in this edition of the Indian Premier League, to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on a flat track pitch that lends itself well to batting – teams batting first have typically held advantage in five previous matches played here.

Gujarat are an all-round team that are adept at winning matches on any surface. Their batting line-up features experienced batsmen like Jos Buttler and Shubman Gill – who both passed 500 runs this season – while Ayush Mhatre and Urvil Patel provided fresh blood with their attacking play.

GT’s bowlers have also done an admirable job. Mohammed Siraj has taken most of the wickets while Prasidh Krishna and Sai Kishore have helped reduce opponents’ run rates. Unfortunately Adil Rashid and Kagiso Rabada are yet to find their form.

CSK have had an inauspicious start to this IPL tournament and currently hold just six points out of 13 matches, already out of contention for playoff berths and facing an uncertain fate if they don’t win this match.

Still, MS Dhoni’s men possess both experience and resources to overcome any setbacks in final stretch; having won five titles and appeared in 10 finals as a franchise so far (tying for most appearances with Mumbai Indians), winning Champions League Twenty20 twice: in 2022 and 2024 respectively.
