MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings will face Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium for an IPL match that promises high stakes action on Sunday, and MS Dhoni is set to make his return after having put in some memorable performances there in previous seasons.

He is known for his ability to finish games off, with an outstanding record against MI already. Hopefully he can add even more milestones when batting for CSK against MI!

After an initially disappointing season, CSK made an impressive comeback and are currently third on the points table. Dhoni led their turnaround with his two half centuries against Lucknow Super Giants earlier in the week; Ravindra Jadeja and Suresh Raina also contributed.

CSK boast a number of players who can contribute to its innings, such as wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik and all-rounder Faf du Plessis, but Dhoni’s finishing masterclass has proven vital for them.

This 42-year-old will aim to maintain his solid form throughout the tournament and is currently the seventh highest run scorer in IPL history.

His ultimate aim will be breaking Chris Gayle’s 242-sixes record held by former Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Chris Gayle; but MI’s fast bowler Gerald Coetzee may present him with some stiff competition as he already has taken eight wickets in seven outings for MI.

Suresh Raina

Suresh Raina may be on the verge of setting another record-breaking feat when his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on Hardik Pandya’s Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium for an intense IPL matchup.

Both sides are at pivotal junctures of their tournament campaigns – MI bolstered by consecutive victories while CSK seek to revive their season.

Both will hope to use home conditions to their advantage with match-winners like Jasprit Bumrah, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni expected to play key roles for their respective sides.

Raina requires one more catch to become the first cricketer ever to capture 100 in IPL history, surpassing other wicket-keepers such as Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers who each currently hold 79 catches respectively.

His teammate Dwayne Bravo is also close to breaking this record; with 70 catches already under his belt he may well join Raina as first to achieve such an accomplishment!

As for CSK, young wicket-keeper Tilak Rajan looks set to add to his impressive IPL record. His ability to bat and spin makes him an essential member of their side; which could prove especially pivotal on Wankhede’s spin-friendly surface.

Dwayne Bravo

Bravo and Hardik Pandya have been essential in Chennai Super Kings’ turnaround this season, sharing seven wickets between them while both contributing significantly with bat and ball. Bravo in particular has excelled, capturing three wickets in his last two matches to become only bowler ever from CSK to have taken 100 IPL wickets!

West Indian opener Chris Gayle holds an excellent track record against Mumbai Cricketers and will look to add even more runs when he faces them in Super Over. Currently he leads CSK’s run-scoring charts and will look to replicate it here as well.

Before the Mumbai Indians made a poor start to their innings and were reduced to 84/6 after 13 overs, Dwayne Bravo played an outstanding innings slamming two sixes off Mitchell McClenaghan and three more off Jasprit Bumrah to turn things around for them.

Mayank Markande made his Vivo IPL debut as the replacement paceman Deepak Chahar was injured, and produced impressive figures of 3/23 before an enthusiastic Wankhede Stadium crowd.

The 20-year-old leg-spinner claimed key wicket of Evin Lewis who was caught off a sharp inswinger from Kedar Jadhav off Mayank Markande; also successful foxed Ambati Rayudu with flat googlies that batsman successfully challenged on DRS.

Shane Watson

Shane Watson was an Australian cricketer. He represented Australia at both 2007 and 2015 ICC World Cups as well as 2009 Champions Trophy, and played an instrumental role in their wins on both occasions. Additionally, he won 2010 T20 World Cup.

At CSK, Watson won two IPL championships and was named best player both times. He established an excellent record against Mumbai Indians by scoring three IPL centuries and taking 20 wickets across 38 meetings between them.

On Sunday at Wankhede Stadium, two teams are set to face each other in a high-stakes IPL match with both trying to rediscover form after difficult starts; the winner of this contest will go top of the table and begin their chase for glory at 7:30 PM IST. The match begins on Sunday.

Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings, two five-time IPL champions each, have faced each other 38 times over the years in IPL competitions.

While MI have edged ahead slightly against CSK in head-to-head matches by winning 17 out of 28 encounters against them – CSK have managed to take their last four against Mumbai Indians as well. It’s likely both teams will make changes for this matchup:

Mumbai may do without Karn Sharma due to an injury, while Rohit Sharma has not been performing particularly well recently against MI in previous encounters against CSK.

Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis has emerged as an invaluable right-hand batsman in CSK’s batting line up, often acting as the mainstay. Well known for his calm disposition and leading the Proteas in their World Cup tournament with distinction – not to mention scoring an impressive 387 runs across eight innings!

Du Plessis was instrumental in South Africa’s comeback from an inauspicious start and qualifying for the semi-final in Adelaide. In his final match as Test captain, du Plessis produced a career-defining knock, hitting an unnerved 82 that was an unforgettable performance under pressure.

At the start of 2018, du Plessis played in an electrifying ODI against Australia at Johannesburg. Although he fell short of scoring his fourth century, his partnership with AB de Villiers set up an incredible victory. For his outstanding performances with Proteas at home he was later given a promotion and appointed captain.

Jasprit Bumrah

Jasprit Bumrah is one of the premier fast bowlers in international cricket. India have made full use of his talents, with him becoming one of the fastest to 200 Test wickets and 100 ODI wickets; also earning joint second fastest to reach both milestones.

As part of India’s winning team in 2024 T20 World Cup held in West Indies he received Player of Series award due to his exceptional performances.

Bumrah has been in outstanding form for CSK this season and will look to maintain it against Mumbai Indians. Both teams are currently fighting it out for one of four playoff spots and both would like to keep those chances alive by winning this game.

This clash between five-time champions promises to be an exciting matchup. Both squads are experiencing some rough patches in competition and must quickly recover in order to reach the quarterfinals.

MI will enter this match feeling confident after their recent win against Delhi Capitals. Their improved batting performances have helped the Mumbai Indians overcome early-season struggles, with Suryakumar Yadav emerging as their star batting performer, currently competing for an IPL 2025 Orange Cap award.
