The First Meeting – PBKS Stun CSK in Early Season Clash

CSK defeated PBKS in their initial meeting by 22 runs on February 10, 2024 with Faf du Plessis scoring 96 off 57 balls as CSK’s star batsman. On May 5, 2024 however, KL Rahul came through for PBKS by scoring 71 off 36 balls to pull off an audacious run chase and help pull them to victory by 4 wickets.

Punjab Kings were confident of making an impressive comeback against DC, after their previous victory. Their strong batting line up included Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis; supported by an effective bowling unit led by Yash Thakur and Nehal Wadhera.

At PCA Stadium in New Chandigarh, PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring some early big scores from their top order batsmen before keeping their run rate consistent through middle overs to end with a competitive total of 173/4.

CSK struggled in the late overs, failing to complete their run chase successfully. They lost several wickets quickly in the final over before being bowled out for just 155.

PBKS made several mistakes in the final over, yet were able to complete it with two balls remaining and win by four wickets, propelling them into the top four of the points table and giving them an excellent opportunity for making it into the playoffs. CSK have now been officially eliminated from the tournament and will now play solely for pride. Their defeat was especially bittersweet given that it happened at home at Chepauk – their first loss since season’s beginning! CSK had been on the brink of elimination for some time but finally fell off, inflicting a devastating blow to fans. To find success next year and reach playoff contention, they will require significant changes within their team to stay competitive.

The Second Meeting – CSK’s Victory Over Mumbai Indians

MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai hosted the second meeting between CSK and Mumbai Indians and saw CSK win by 28 runs with Ravindra Jadeja taking three wickets and scoring 43 runs off 26 balls in run chase to earn Man of the Match honors – key contributor to his side’s victory!

PBKS had an encouraging start in their tournament campaign, yet struggled with consistency. A strong finish to the season put them back into contention for a playoff berth; an attribute which contributed significantly to their improved showing against Chennai Super Kings.

PBKS won the toss and elected to bat first in Game One. Their 20 over total reached 219 for 6, thanks largely to Priyansh Arya’s remarkable century in just 103 balls; an effort which stands out among IPL history as joint-fourth fastest century.

CSK were initially off to an unsuccessful start but soon found their groove, winning nine of their subsequent 10 matches to finish fourth in the points table and secure their playoff berth just behind SRH. They needed five victories more to ensure an appearance at playoffs.

Punjab Kings were one of the favorites to compete for an IPL title this season, yet have fallen short in their performances overall and at home. Still, they can secure their place in the playoffs by beating CSK; to do so they must improve their play and rely on players such as Priyansh Arya and Shahid Afridi in order to do so; over 32 IPL matches between them, CSK have managed 17 wins; this gives them an edge in this rivalry and forms a key part of the chennai super kings vs punjab kings timeline.

The Third Meeting – PBKS Dominate Early Season Encounters

CSK and PBKS have both enjoyed legendary histories in Indian Premier League history, winning five titles each since its inaugural edition 2022. While PBKS have yet to make their way up the ladder themselves, their focus on building an explosive yet consistent side means they could well make another run at it this season.

At the first matchup of this season, PBKS demolished CSK by 10 wickets at Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. Glenn Maxwell led with 95 off 59 balls, helping limit CSK to only 187 runs in their innings. At Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on match day two, even with Shikhar Dhawan scoring an outstanding 92 off 48 balls performance, PBKS prevailed and won by four wickets.

MS Dhoni’s men were in strong form as they won their third game of the season at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Yuzvendra Chahal produced a riveting match, scoring three hat-tricks while Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh both hit fifty runs for PBKS who scored 195/3 after winning the toss and opting to bat first.

Priyansh Arya began the game strongly, hitting an overlong six with his very first ball – becoming just the fourth player ever to do so during an IPL innings.

Khaleel Ahmed takes over for the fourth over. The pacer attempts to trap Jansen off his front foot with short balls but instead takes an inside edge which allows the ball to sail over deep square leg for four.

Iyer continued his assault on the bowlers with a massive shot over long on off ball five. This hit lands just behind the stumps before being hit to short third man for two-run single. At the end of that over, PBKS needed only 21 runs from three final overs to win; and as they battled hard for victory they found just that many in short third man alone!

The Fourth Meeting – Punjab’s Bowling Masterclass

One of the most riveting rivalries in IPL history continues to evolve as both franchises produce must-see matches each time they clash. From nail-biters to record-breaking performances, every encounter between CSK and PBKS adds new chapters to an everlasting tale.

Punjab completely dominated their fourth meeting against Chennai. Winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Punjab held them to just 116 runs thanks to an inspiring performance by their bowlers.

However, CSK managed to recover quickly and take early wickets to put an end to this game quickly.

Punjab started their innings off perfectly, thanks to an outstanding opening partnership between Shreyas Iyer and Prabhsimran Singh, both batsmen taking up the challenge well, countering spin from both ends evenly.

At one stage, both teams put on 88 runs off 10 overs, building an advantage of over 50 runs at halfway stage. But in the second half of their innings both sides managed only 10 runs in four overs each, leaving them vulnerable at 117/6 with nine balls still to bat.

At this stage, the match took a dramatic turn when CSK began to slip. They eventually succumbed to collapse and were bowled out for just 187 runs – leading Devon Conway’s superb innings in helping PBKS reach its target without difficulty.

Caugh took one run off Iyer with two strikes of his batting glove at deep midwicket to win the match and knock CSK out of contention, moving into second place and giving themselves an excellent shot at making it through to semifinals. For PBKS this win came as much-needed relief after their poor start this season when they had lost five matches consecutively before this win.
