Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill made an auspicious start to his senior career after making waves at both the Under-19 World Cup and domestic performances for Punjab.

His stunning bottom-handed batting style, similar to those seen from Virat Kohli and Prithvi Shaw, earned him a reputation for being one of the most captivating batsmen.

Shumman’s spectacular World Cup performance earned him selection to India’s ODI squad touring New Zealand, and he made his debut in Hamilton for their second ODI.

On debut he scored an astonishing 208 not out and easily overtook Prithvi Shaw as the leading run scorer – and stood out with stylish singles, doubles, sixes, fours, sixes. His stroke play stood out, featuring stylish singles, doubles as well as huge sixes and fours!

After his World Cup performance, Gill was selected for India A’s Border-Gavaskar series against Australia and New Zealand A.

He played in three out of the four tests but struggled to replicate it, leading him to being dropped for the fourth match – until making an incredible unbeaten century against New Zealand A in his fifth innings!

Gill is currently playing for Gujarat Titans and will face former team Kolkata Knight Riders for their opening encounter of IPL 2023 on Friday night.

Although an average hitter, Gill has yet to match Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler when it comes to hitting. On Friday’s match versus KKR will also mark 50 IPL appearances from Gill, making this game his 50th overall IPL game and youngest Indian to ever achieve this milestone!

Sai Sudharsan

Sai Sudharsan’s powerful performance helped Gujarat Titans (GT) defeat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at home on Monday evening, as their opener continued their stellar IPL form by smashing 52 off 36 balls for GT.

Sudharsan displayed remarkable resilience as he ran superbly between wickets to convert many bad balls into one-twos before finally being dismissed by Andre Russell with extra lift outside his off stump, forcing Rahmanullah Gurbaz into making an excellent catch.

Gill and Sudharsan opened with impressive precision for GT, quickly neutralising any early advantage KKR might have had over their opponents at Eden Gardens.

Both players made excellent use of gaps while striking cleanly and consistently without hitting too many sixes.

Both played their shots with great care and picked their spots perfectly, laying the foundation for an impressive total.

Both kept their nerves calm throughout a series of slow overs in the powerplay as well as some cautious ones later on, remaining unbothered by any issues which arose from those delays or from other more cautious moves by opponents.

Sudharsan recently overtook LSG captain Nicholas Pooran and secured second spot on the IPL’s batting impact runs list with 424.1 in eight innings, having hit five half-centuries in his last eight innings and being one of the most consistent batsmen this season.

On Tuesday at home against Delhi Capitals – likely to be another high-scoring affair due to their longstanding rivalry and historic cricket moments over time – he will look to solidify his place. Both sides currently rank seventh and eighth on their respective tables but each have equal chances at making the top four positions.

Jos Buttler

Buttler is an incredible batsman. His ability to comfortably scoop a 156kph delivery with ease is something most can only dream about; his footwork in between wickets reminds one of a sprint racer, while he can hit long-on for six with just one stroke makes him truly extraordinary. However, Buttler truly shines as an opener when given any ball to attack in the middle order – creating havoc with every delivery coming his way!

Buttler’s batting skills have kept him in the side, but his gloveman skills are also outstanding. With an infallible technique and serene disposition that make him one of the most dangerous players in white ball cricket.

Additionally, Buttler is blessed with an extraordinary eye for the game – being able to spot balls flying at high speed at any moment!

Jos Buttler has the natural leadership qualities required of an England captain and it comes as no surprise that he has led England in several matches. Never afraid to speak his mind in the dressing room, Jos has also proven to be an outstanding representative for the sport; winning 2022 ICC Men’s IT20 Team of the Year honors while acting as an inspiration for young players.

Jos Buttler is undisputedly the greatest one-day international batsman ever. His incredible record of over fifty ODI centuries in a career makes him an extraordinary performer to watch; he can turn an innings around from collapse with ease, setting records or breaking them entirely with the bat.

Additionally, his leadership abilities make him unrivalled; this combination of talent and temperament is unbeatable – making Buttler an icon in modern cricket who will remain iconic generations later.

Rashid Khan

The IPL showcases what fierce rivalry and unpredictable action look like perfectly with each match between KKR-GT; whether its Gill’s beauty or Rashid’s spinnery that takes centre stage. Each match adds another chapter in this ever-evolving rivalry.

After Shubman Gill’s 55-ball 90 helped GT post an impressive total, Ajinkya Rahane-led KKR struggled in their pursuit. By the end of powerplay overs they had fallen to 119/6 and never looked likely to overturning the deficit on home turf.

Rashid Khan then entered the picture, giving KKR a serious scare. Though initially off color with his bowling, Rashid soon made up for lost time with an impressive spell that limited runs while taking two crucial wickets quickly in the middle overs.

Buttler and Russell struggled at the crease, increasing pressure on KKR but managing to remain together until Ishant Sharma dismissed Russell for five wickets in one over.

KKR suffered their first back-to-back defeat this season and are under immense pressure to regain their winning momentum quickly if they want to qualify for playoffs. All remaining matches must now be won to remain relevant.

Even after their recent disappointment, there is still time for KKR to turn things around. By addressing their weaknesses and altering their lineup accordingly, adding more firepower to their batting attack and improving bowling accuracy will be key components in reaching the top four spots.
