Sam Konstas’ brilliant innings at 19 years old was the main talking point for Australia. Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne both scored half-centuries alongside him; Jasprit Bumrah stood out as India’s standout bowler.

Scott Boland takes over for Cummins. Gill pushes through covers for a single before driving down mid off on his next ball for another hit; two consecutive hits!

Here we will discuss the main points of India National Cricket Team vs Australian Men’s Cricket Team Match Scorecard.

Scorecard

Australia and India national cricket teams are locked in battle during the third Test match at Sydney Cricket Ground. Both sides aim to seal a series victory; Travis Head and Steve Smith have scored centuries that put their side ahead, with Jasprit Bumrah leading India with wicket-taking efforts.

Bumrah’s last delivery of the day dismissed Usman Khawaja for a crucial victory on a lively Sydney pitch, giving India much-needed relief following a lengthy afternoon session where both Khawaja and 19-year-old Sam Konstas were accused of wasting time while running down the clock; KL Rahul then managed to take an important catch at slip to protect his side against further follow-on action from India’s opponents.

Ravindra Jadeja led India with an outstanding innings, scoring an astonishing 77 runs off just 62 balls to help the pair add 154 in just 13 overs before weather forces them off for a brief rest period.

With the score at 291-5, Jasprit Bumrah prepares to take the new ball. On his first delivery he makes an LBW claim against Carey but it’s dismissed and Rohit Sharma declines a review due to height considerations.

India will hope that their second new ball can provide two late wickets to withstand Australia. They may get some support from fast bowler Siraj’s return – four wickets have fallen since his reintroduction.

India and Australia share an illustrious history in both Tests and One Day Internationals (ODIs), having met in 14 ODIs and five Tests; Australia won four of those. Both sides will look to secure victory in Adelaide for this upcoming series; even with recent struggles, India holds the slight edge with more victories against Australia than Australia overall and better Champions Trophy record than Australia (having never lost back-to-back ODIs against them) which they aim to leverage into making it to the final.

India vs Australia

After two victories for India against Australia at Perth and Adelaide respectively, the fifth Test between them is now at its most critical juncture. Even at 1-1, victory for either side would secure their position in retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series victory; each side is fighting hard for series victory with both making a last ditch effort to claim it before playing off one more time on Saturday evening in what promises to be an intense showdown!

Rohit Sharma and India will look to reverse a 0-2 deficit against Australia at WACA Stadium. A victory would place India third among all-time Test winning nations behind England and South Africa as well as give them an opportunity to regain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy they won back in 2022.

Jasprit Bumrah will look to build on his career-best haul of 13 wickets against Australian batsmen, which includes an explosive pace and ability to swing both ways that makes him an extremely dangerous proposition for opposing batsmen.

Ravindra Jadeja will look to continue his impressive run against India with another strong performance in his second innings against them. His 107-run innings helped lead his side to an imposing total, so it would be ideal if he continued in this vein in Test number four.

Bumrah won the toss and elected to field first, prompting India to bat. Rishabh Pant was their top scorer with 40 runs while Ravindra Jadeja and Bumrah both contributed with cameo appearances.

Indian bowlers performed admirably to remove Australia’s top order. Australia struggled to match India’s pacey bowlers – especially Pat Cummins and Scott Boland – especially their pace. Australia captain Travis Head was dismissed without scoring; caught trying to tamper with the ball by India bowlers during his innings.

India was in poor batting form following two quick wickets falling, but Rohit Sharma made an inspired effort to revive their innings and help salvage the match. Rohit’s century brought India out of trouble while Washington Sundar and Rohit formed an unbroken 127-run partnership for an unassailable lead of 145 runs at stumps.

India’s total

The fourth day of the match started off quickly as India got down to work on their wicket. KL Rahul and Jaiswal formed an excellent partnership which will hopefully keep India competitive and give them a chance of winning this test match.

As Australia’s bowlers make it difficult for Indian batsmen to adjust, Indian bowlers have also struggled to control length and allow too many balls become twos.

At first it appeared India could suffer another crushing defeat but then Yashasvi Jaiswal entered as number three and started making his presence felt immediately. Playing similar shots to those seen all summer with increased confidence and authority gave India a massive boost and kept them competitive throughout.

But then he just missed out on reaching a hundred when he misjudged a ball from Pandya and it was caught by Axar at mid-on, devastating the home team and their hopes for an unlikely comeback.

Rohit Jaiswal attempted to hit out on a short ball from Cummins but failed when it flew up in the air and was caught by Scot Boland at mid-wicket, an oversight on his part which demonstrated how important partners are in helping Rohit play to his strengths and stay with him through to victory.

An unusual incident took place during the 30th over when an invader invaded the field and attempted to slap Rohit Kohli, but instead the cricket star stood firm and executed his signature dance step which included him pointing both hands up over his shoulders before doing a spin with them before finally looking away from the crowd and being eventually dragged off by security personnel. That incident might have seemed bizarre but did not derail Jaiswal and Pant’s momentum at all.

Australia’s total

Australia appeared on course to win and retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home, taking control on Day 4 through fast bowler Pat Cummins taking two wickets and India’s middle order collapsing. India seemed certain to be out below target until Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep came to their side and kept visitors’ hopes alive.

After an inauspicious start, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant were both dismissed by Scott Boland and Pat Cummins within hours to leave India reeling at 72-4 before mounting an impressive late charge that eventually propelled India up to 122-6 at stumps on Day 4.

Last time Australia failed to chase down a total of 162 or higher in a home Test match was 1994 when Damien Martyn cost his nation six years of international cricket with his poor fourth innings display. That has long since passed and current Australia batsmen won’t allow anything similar happen here.

Head played an impressive innings of 152 runs off 160 balls while Smith scored an unbeaten 101 off 190 balls for Australia to establish an early lead. Both batsmen were well supported by an outstanding lower order performance; Khawaja and Carey making half centuries.

Bowling has been the primary issue for visitors. India’s fast bowlers conceded 35 runs from just their first three overs; if this rate of leakage continues on day five, it may prove impossible for tourists to post a competitive score on that final morning.

Australia-India clash at the MCG promises to be an intense contest. A win by Australia would reclaim their trophy, while a draw would secure their qualification for next year’s World Test Championship final in England alongside South Africa. Australia have now won five straight series versus India; winning 10 International Cricket Council tournaments to date against them as opposed to six.
