However, it was the bowlers who won out as wickets regularly fell following England’s strong start. All four bowlers contributed wickets across their lineup – Jamie Overton, Gus Atkinson, Adil Rashid and Ravindra Jadeja all chipping in and helping put pressure on England batsmen until late in their innings when Jos Buttler fell victim to Harshit Rana.
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill put on an opening 10-over partnership of 69 runs as the visitors struggled for big scores but still posted an impressive total of 286/6.
England’s batsmen were careless with the fielding, allowing India to pick up quick wickets throughout their innings. With time running out, visitors looked to score quick runs before losing wicket.
However, they were taken by surprise when faced with some brilliant bowling from their hosts. Adil Rashid’s brilliant spell saw him pick up Phil Salt’s wicket before Virat Kohli fell victim to Jadeja off of a single ball delivered from Adil Rashid – both events taking place within one ball!
