India vs New Zealand 2025 ICC Champions Trophy Final

India and New Zealand battled fiercely for victory in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy Final, with India emerging victorious after an exciting contest. India was led by spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakravarthy to maintain control of New Zealand, taking wickets at key moments in each innings to keep New Zealand at an under-par run rate for most of their innings; eventually Rohit Sharma’s serene batting and Rahul’s steady innings allowed India to take home their victory from this thrilling contest!

India defeated Australia by four wickets to advance to the final, led by Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah who all contributed immensely towards victory. India’s fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel also delivered with great skill during this match-up.

Both teams came into the final in impressive form, but India’s experienced batsmen provided them with an edge. Rohit’s innings was the highlight of the match – hitting three sixes and two fours to take his side closer towards their target. New Zealand’s Will Young and Kane Williamson tried valiantly but both wickets fell quickly, sending New Zealand into defeat. It was heartbreaking defeat for South Africa Proteas whose chase seemed under control until an extraordinary piece of death bowling by India spinners turned off their chase – as India spinners executed an exceptional piece of death bowling by India spinners took out.

India won the match by 4 wickets

India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in an electrifying Champions Trophy final matchup at Dubai International Stadium. This marked their first ever meeting in an international tournament’s final. Additionally, India reached this year’s Gaddafi Stadium final after defeating Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium last year and were victorious then as well.

Rohit Sharma led India’s batting with an outstanding 76 from just 83 balls while Lokesh Rahul unbeaten 34 saw them to victory by four wickets and secure an early advantage in the three-match series.

New Zealand appeared to have their game under control for much of the chase, but some outstanding death bowling and sensational catches helped keep them on course to victory. Daryl Mitchell and Michael Bracewell both scored half centuries to put the visitors in an advantageous position on a slow two-paced Dubai pitch.

After Jacob Bethell hit his wild stroke, India’s fast bowlers started to find their rhythm. Siraj returned after eight-over spell and attacked Bethell with powerful nip-backers while Prasidh found his stride, drawing tentative pushes while rattlesnaking lower order batsmen as darkness descended – however New Zealand held out, saving their strength for one final surge.

New Zealand scored 251 runs

New Zealand was bowled out for 251 in their first innings, in just 31 overs. While they made an encouraging start with Rachin Ravindra and Will Young scoring 69 runs during the opening powerplay over, Ravindra was soon after caught at extra cover by Glenn Phillips for just nine runs later on in that over.

India’s spinners then put an abrupt stop to New Zealand’s innings. Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel bowled economical overs, applying pressure to their batsmen while restricting them to four fours in this phase of play.

After the break, New Zealand lost wickets at regular intervals as Mohammed Shami bowled wickets such as Corey Anderson and Mitchell McClenaghan to Kane Williamson who continued hitting big shots while reaching his second ODI century of the tournament and 22nd double century by punching Kemar Roach delivery into the boundary for six. However, Kane Williamson continued hitting big shots to reach both feats simultaneously – his 22nd century being reached when he hit Kemar Roach delivery over midwicket for six hits against Roach bowling before punching another Roach delivery into boundary. However, Kane Williamson continued playing big shots and reached his second double century in five matches after hitting an overthrow delivery off Kemar Roach delivery for six – making history again!

Michael Bracewell then produced an impressive run-scoring run to bring New Zealand close to their target. They needed another 105 runs in just seven overs for victory but due to some poor shots by Shubman Gill he fell to Michael Bracewell at extra cover, which allowed New Zealand to reach their target with two balls still left! It marked their second major ICC title win within two years; having previously claimed T20 World Cup.

India’s batting was good

India has gone far beyond their predecessors’ teams that relied solely on individual superstars for success; thanks to an incredible depth and talent pool within their squad, they have emerged as an increasingly formidable force. India’s batting has proved flexible enough to adapt to different match situations while maintaining a competitive edge even against formidable opposition.

At each tournament, several batsmen showed outstanding composure under pressure and an eagerness to play long innings. Their ability to interpret bowling strategies and adapt their batting approach accordingly proved crucial in India’s victory against its opponents, as did their skill in building partnerships and capitalizing on good starts; ultimately ensuring India remained an unpredictable threat regardless of the situation they found themselves in.

New Zealand’s top order, led by captain Mitchell Santner and Kane Williamson, must find an effective strategy against India’s spin attack in the second Test at Dubai. With its slow nature providing spinners with turn and grip for their deliveries, which could cause problems for New Zealand batsmen who typically hesitate against turning balls.

KL Rahul struggled in England but, other than him, India batsmen performed strongly. Ravindra Jadeja stood out, as one of India’s finest all-rounders who has found a place within his squad that fits more closely to his abilities and given him more opportunity to excel.

New Zealand’s bowling was good

New Zealand is well known for outperforming their weight, as a small nation but have won two major ICC tournaments: ICC Knockout Trophy (predecessor to Champions Trophy) in 2000 and World Test Championship in 2021. They also reached three ODI World Cup finals where Australia prevailed each time; under Brendon McCullum and Kane Williamson’s leadership they have steadily moved up in Test rankings.

New Zealand’s success in one-day cricket allowed it to regularly challenge the best teams around the world. Their one-day win ratio allowed for consistent competition against top opposition, winning games when one batsman scored a century, other players got 30s, bowlers bowled economically and fielding well, etc. All requirements that their players were able to fulfill consistently and led them to build an outstanding one-day record against all sides.

New Zealand has found great success in this format, which has enabled them to produce numerous fast bowlers such as Kyle Jamieson (6’8″), Henry Shipley (6’5″) and Will O’Rourke (6’4′”) who possess the height, pace and release necessary for world-class fast bowlers – these bowlers’ ability to get batters hopping even on dead pitches has earned them a reputation as “chokers.”

India’s fielding was good

India may boast one of the strongest batting attacks worldwide, yet their fielding capabilities remain something of an enigma. Although they have produced some outstanding players, their fielding never approached Australian or South African standards despite having produced some incredible stars themselves. But this may soon change with IPL giving more emphasis to fielding; teams now commonly practicing long hours for IPL games to perfect their fielding skills and perfect their strategies.

India’s fielding has greatly evolved over the years. Newer players have shown tremendous strides forward and some now count themselves among the finest fielders worldwide, possessing quick reflexes, incredible athleticism and a commitment to saving every run possible.

the Indian coaching staff has also been supportive in this effort, with former coach R Sridhar widely credited with changing mindsets regarding fielding while his successor T Dilip has helped cultivate an atmosphere of healthy competition within the squad – something which is evident by an announcement ceremony held after each victory to celebrate its fielding medal winner.

Ceremony has become an integral component of victory celebrations, with players like Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja competing alongside their teammates to earn medals at every match they play.
