Amanjot Kaur
Amanjot Kaur has made waves in cricketing circles since she joined, but her journey wasn’t always straightforward. The right-arm medium bowler and batswoman has an electric temperament on the field that shines through when competing – she has been an invaluable member of her team in recent times; recently, in Guwahati she displayed no letup when leading them against an opposing side.
Deepti Sharma earned Player of the Match honors with her outstanding batting performance, but Amanjot’s contribution was just as vital. She helped India reach an acceptable total and took pressure off other batters – while her fearless batting allowed fans to cheer India onto victory!
Born and raised in Mohali, Amanjot Kaur found herself far removed from cricket academies and stadiums as she spent most of her childhood living a humble existence – with her father Bhupinder Singh running a carpentry workshop and her mother Ranjeet Kaur being a housewife – but Amanjot’s passion for cricket remained clear; even during family dinner time Amanjot would spend hours playing cricket against boys from her colony even when her family warned against it!
Kaur first made her mark as an amateur cricketer by representing Punjab Under-19 and Under-23 squads, then relocated to Chandigarh hoping to advance her career further – but it would pay dividends when Chandigarh Cricket Association joined BCCI, making Kaur an immediate affiliate and opening up opportunities for her national debut in 2023.
The Women in Blue have made impressive strides over the last several years and now rank amongst the world’s elite teams. They currently stand third in ICC Women’s Rankings while they also serve as reigning Champions of Women’s T20 World Cup – looking forward to successfully defending it this time around!
India Women’s National Cricket Team based out of Mumbai are full members of the International Cricket Council and play Test, one day international (ODI), and Twenty20 matches worldwide. Their cricket governing body is Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Cricket has become one of India’s most beloved national pastimes with an estimated audience of more than one billion worldwide!
Deepti Sharma
India women’s national cricket team, led by Harmanpreet Kaur from Mumbai and governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), is an official professional women’s cricket team that represents its country at international competitions such as Test matches, One Day Internationals and Twenty20s.
Indian Women’s National Cricket Team currently ranks third worldwide behind Australia and England according to the International Cricket Council. Established in 1973, this team has competed at every ICC tournament since then; most recently in 2021 ICC T20 World Cup where they lost to Pakistan.
India struggled in their encounter against England due to a strong bowling performance from England. Heather Knight scored an unbeaten 109 off 91 balls to spearhead England’s innings and keep India under 288-8 for 50 overs.
Deepti Sharma was India’s sole bright spot, as captain Harmanpreet Kaur relied heavily on her veteran off-spinner to gain breakthrough. Sharma took out Tammy Beaumont (22) and Amy Jones (56 off 68), as well as contributing to an unlikely mini batting collapse by dismissing Emma Lamb (11) and Alice Capsey (2) at key moments during the game.
India’s batsmen struggled, yet were in position to win until captain Mandhana misjudged a pull off Smith at short third man and was caught for 64. With just two overs left to bat in their group games against New Zealand and Bangladesh remaining, Indian hopes for reaching the semifinals of ICC Women’s World Cup are now tenuous; all-rounder Deepti expressed confidence in her team’s morale by saying they will learn from mistakes while using strengths to advance against England – with team also working various strategies over their week-long break.
Shree Charani
Kishore Kumar – Charani’s maternal uncle – would wake up early and spend his morning working at his auto shop before spending the rest of the day playing cricket with Charani at their RTPC quarters field, competing against players well above her age in terms of fielding skills more so than in terms of batting or bowling abilities. Charani became fascinated with cricket from an early age thanks to Kishore and Kishore helped foster her development on this field as much as any other aspect of sports could.
Though her father wanted her to focus on athletics, her aunt and mother were more supportive of her cricket passion. They eventually gave in and allowed her to pursue it full-time – quickly drawing attention from age-group coaches like former India coach and Mumbai Royals mentor Srinivas Reddy.
Reddy was impressed by Charani’s ability to bowl at different phases and her consistency; in particular, she could pick up wickets even on slow pitches which usually pose difficulties to spinners. With Reddy helping her develop her skills further, Charani soon made her first ODI appearance against Sri Lanka in April 2025 and two months later her T20I debut against England.
On this particular occasion, she truly displayed her talent by bowling an astounding five-wicket haul and dismissing Alice Capsey, Sophie Ecclestone, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Lauren Bell after they had made four strikes each in their innings. Her efforts contributed heavily towards India’s historic 97-run win against England – India’s largest one-day international victory ever in this format!
At 20, she has become an integral member of India’s squad and currently on her second tour to England with them. Already she has claimed seven wickets across three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches while five wickets in five ODIs with an economy rate of 6.50 have come her way.
Cricket may not have been her initial sport of choice – she also enjoys badminton and kabaddi – but the sport has taught her invaluable lessons about discipline and hardwork. Meg Lanning has provided invaluable advice in shaping her playing style; much of her success can be credited to this mentorship.
Harmanpreet Kaur
Harmanpreet Kaur is a professional Indian cricketer. She represents India women’s national cricket team across all formats as a batting all-rounder and right arm off break bowler. Harmanpreet’s attacking style of play, heavily influenced by idol Virender Sehwag, inspires teammates while her aggressive on-field personality and style inspire the opposing teams’ opponents as she is one of India’s highest run scorers in WODIs and WT20Is; her 171 against Australia made waves around the cricketing world.
Before the match began, Smriti Mandhana came close to scoring her maiden century but instead produced an elegant and well-timed 88 off 66 balls – sharing an important 105-run partnership with Harmanpreet. However, at 240/3 India lost three quick wickets which resulted in their late collapse as England controlled the last two overs to win by four runs; Katherine Brunt’s disciplined bowling under pressure sealed their victory and won England another victory.
Both teams are eager to win this match as its result will have a tremendous influence on their standing in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 table. A win will increase chances of reaching semi-finals while losing could see their rankings slip further down; furthermore, winners will carry momentum into final round matches against lower ranked sides.
India Women’s National Cricket Team are full members of the International Cricket Council, having Test, One Day International, and Twenty20 status with them. Dubbed the ‘Women in Blue”, they currently sit third in ICC Women’s Rankings under Rahul Johri and Harmanpreet Kaur (captain), who has recently shown impressive form. Led by coach Rahul Johri with youth and experienced players mixed into its squad from Mumbai-based BCCI management based out of Mumbai
