Here is an overview of each team’s requirements and budget constraints.
The top four teams appear to be set, but Delhi Capitals could emerge as an underdog this season. Their versatile group of players can adapt their play depending on the situation – something which could prove crucial if they hope to capture their first title.
KKR have wasted no time taking advantage of their large purse, spending INR 64.3 crore in auction to acquire 13 new faces, setting the biggest bid in uncapped player history for Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma respectively.
They hope their investment will pay off with Chris Lynn back playing against Rajasthan Royals after missing in their previous encounter.
On the other hand, Royal Rumble have struggled to establish consistency in their lineup this season, despite Dhruv Jurel’s fine form. While they have strengthened their bowling stocks with legspinner Yash Raj Punja and left-armer Vignesh Puthur joining their ranks, but will need someone to replace Jofra Archer.
LSG needed a proven finisher but were left disappointed at the auction. Although they did secure experienced batsmen like Wanindu Hasaranga and Mukul Choudhary as batsmen acquisitions, their batting depth remains an issue. On spinner front they could have done better but instead settled for Anrich Nortje for just INR 2 crore as an injury risk.
