RR vs. LSG
The Indian Premier League offers many captivating rivalries, and one of its newest ones pitting Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants against each other is certainly intriguing.
LSG joined in 2022 but have already established themselves as a formidable side, often producing nail-biting finishes or close margins with outstanding individual performances by both teams.
Below is a timeline that documents this relationship through key matchups, head-to-head records, and other interesting stats.
RR have won four out of their six encounters against LSG and scored more runs in each match compared to LSG. Sanju Samson scored an unbeaten 82 to lead RR against LSG during one such meeting.
LSG won the toss and elected to bat first, quickly reaching 53 for no loss in their powerplay courtesy of Aiden Markram’s brilliant fifty and Nicholas Pooran’s quick hitting.
However, GT found themselves struggling against LSG’s strong resistance – only managing three wickets before retreating back down for their final innings against them.
As expected, this game was on its way towards becoming a classic until Avesh Khan struck in the 19th over and removed both of RR’s set batsmen, leaving them needing only 27 runs from three overs with eight wickets remaining to achieve victory – seemingly an impossible task.
However, Hetmyer proved invaluable by hitting three fours and three sixes during his 37-ball innings, keeping scoreboard ticking over.
At 139 for 2, Hetmyer completed his fourth IPL fifty in just 13 balls to put RR back ahead, looking like they might win their fifth consecutive match until being edged out by Delhi Capitals in an exciting Super Over.
Although they fell just short, however, and were ultimately defeated by them via Super Over. Still top of the table and will undoubtedly remain formidable competitors this season, as evidenced by their four straight victories over LSG side that has dropped both opening games so far and will hope Rishabh Pant’s appointment as captain can turn around their fortunes after stint with Delhi Capitals and help turn things around as soon as he joins their side as captain following stint with Delhi Capitals a month prior.
