RCB vs. MI
In Vadodara, Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Mumbai Indians (MI). Both sides enter this matchup with different objectives – RCB looking to assert their dominance and secure direct final-place finishes, while MI needing to win in order to remain alive for playoff contention. It should be an entertaining encounter at Kotambi Stadium; its pitch offering excellent support to batsmen from early overs.
RCB Batsmen
The reigning champions have experienced an inauspicious start to this tournament, losing three matches without victory and falling off of top-four pursuit.
Their poor form has stunted their tournament hopes; therefore they must quickly rediscover their form in order to keep pushing forward towards top four success.
While RCB’s top order has performed admirably, their middle order has struggled. Therefore, Harmanpreet Kaur, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr must come good in order to keep Bengaluru title defence alive.
Nadine de Klerk led the RCB chase against DC with her impressive bat performance, but will need support from Richa Ghosh, Shreyanka Patil and Radha Yadav in order to ensure a quick start and firepower down the order.
On the bowling front, Bumrah stood out for RCB in their last outing and she will need to deliver again for them to bring home victory.
Her efforts will be joined by Krunal Pandya and Suyash Chawla who have both proven effective with economical bowling spells for them.
MI Batsmen
The Mumbai Indians batsmen have had an uneven performance so far this season, with the top order not contributing in an effective manner on a consistent basis.
But their middle and lower order have been consistent contributors, including Nicola Carey, Hayley Matthews and Harmanpreet Kaur who all provided impactful cameo appearances throughout.
MI have proven themselves capable of coming up with results despite their struggles, as evidenced by their experienced players being able to click into gear.
MI will also benefit from Hardik Pandya returning fit to play for them and it will be intriguing to witness their response against an in-form RCB squad in this high-scoring encounter.
